When styling Abd and Nurin’s wedding inspiration our goal was to create blend their cultures and traditions- we took parts of Nurin and Abd’s traditions from Egyptian and Lebanese weddings and mixed them with some European inspired decor details. We wanted something unique and modern, yet pay tribute to their religion and traditions. We added touches like a prayer rug station for guests, henna for Nurin, and a bar with tea and Middle Eastern sweets like baklava and maamoul. We styled their sweetheart table against Hotel du Village’s black and white tile floor with lush exotic greenery like monstera, palms, and birds of paradise, resembling a feeling of luxurious Turkish bathhouses.
Abd and Nurin met at a family camp 5 years ago. Abd knew from the moment he met Nurin that she had an incredible energy and genuine kindness about her and fell madly in love. Nurin, however, felt differently at first. She always imagined herself with someone calm and serious to balance her crazy personality...which Abd was not. Nurin is thankful that Abd was persistent and they became friends over the next 4 years and one day Nurin opened her heart to Abd and they quickly became best friends and engaged. They both are looking forward to traveling the world and raising a healthy, culturally diverse family together.
Both Abd and Nurin are from different cultures. Abd’s father was born in Lebanon, originally from Palestine while his mother is from Seattle with Northern European Roots. Nurin’s parents grew up in Egypt but are originally from Harar, Ethiopia with roots from Yemen.
