Brian + Josh
We originally met Brian and Josh at a tasting event held by their wedding caterers, Feast Your Eyes Catering. When we found out that they still needed a photographer, we gave them our contact info, honestly never expecting to hear from them. Then, to my surprise, a few weeks later I ran into them at another wedding that I was photographing. We hit it off, and I’m so glad because I was honored to photograph their wedding just a few months later. And their wedding was one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever been to. Complete with rainbow wigs and a full drag show, this wedding ended with quite the party.
To start the day off, Brian and Josh got ready together at their home. I love when couples get ready together. Although it’s not the most traditional, it’s definitely the most intimate way to get dressed for your day. And I loved how this brought out little quirky bits of their life together, like cleaning their glasses and when Brian grabbed the electric shaver to do an impromptu trim of Josh’s stubbly chin. It’s moments like these that help us tell a couple’s personal story.
After they were dressed, we headed over to Headhouse Square in style, taking a classic white Rolls Royce throughout the city. We walked around the square taking portraits of the grooms for a while before we hopped back in the Rolls Royce to head to their venue, FAME. We arrived as the sun was getting low in the sky and had time to go up to the gorgeous white roof for a few more portraits after taking some family photos. One of the best things about this venue, aside from the gorgeous white space with large windows, is the view. From the roof we could see clearly the whole of the Philadelphia skyline. Add in the sunset, and you know I was in heaven taking these photos.
Before the sun had completely set, these two said their vows with a view of the fading sun over the city. It was truly a sweet and memorable way to say, “I do”. After the ceremony, the party ensued. Everyone was in good spirits and ready to dances their butts off. Emceeing the evening was Anthony Maurillo, the leader of the drag group, Philly’s Foxes. In the middle of the dancing, everything came to a halt when the foxes performed a full drag show. It was so much fun, even grandma was loving it!
Thank you so much to Brian and Josh for inviting me to be a part of their day, it was a blast!
