Angjela and Kevin were married on a brisk January day at the beautiful Cairnwood Estate! It was such a perfect setting for their classic wedding since the estate looks just like a French chateau with meticulous decorative elements with Romand and Green architecture. From the moment Angjela and Kevin toured the grounds, they fell in love, and we even took their engagement photos here the previous summer! They chose to keep their details simple and muted with a palette of ivory, gold, white, and a hint of blush, perfect for any winter wedding. Angjela brought along some very special details for her day, including her grandmother’s compact pocket mirror and both Angjela and Kevin kept a Nazar, or evil eye, hidden on their person to ward their marriage against back luck.
We held their first look together on the grand staircase at Cairnwood and utilized the reception room for indoor portraits, which kept these two warm from the overcast day with looming snow in the forecast. The ivory light-filled room and stone fireplace adorned with florals made the room feel so warm and cozy on such a chilly day! Angjela’s dress was the perfect blend of modern with it’s sleek and simple fabric and asymmetrical bow yet complimented the detailed architecture of Cairnwood Estate and the Bryn Athyn Cathedral with a bold lace that mimicked the romantic details.
After a few more portraits down at the gorgeous Bryn Athyn Cathedral with their family and bridal party and as the sun set, these shared a beautiful and intimate ceremony in the grand Gothic style church with it’s large and beautiful glass windows, sharply pointed spires and flying buttresses. One unique part of their ceremony was when the pastor dimmed the lights, the only light coming from the last light of dusk and two candles that Angjela and Kevin held, symbolizing the light and power of their love overcoming the darkness that can surround them.
After their ceremony, the party hitched back up to the estate for dinner and touching speeches from their maid of honor, best man, and Angjela’s mom who set her speech to a surprise recording of her playing an emotional song on the piano- there wasn’t a dry eye in the room! Just as their speeches ended, a heavy snow began to fall so we ran outside for one grand shot of these two in the snow to complete their winter wedding! Keristin and I had such a blast capturing these two, their friends, and families for such a beautiful day. It’s couples like Angjela and Kevin that make us love our jobs and what we do every weekend!
